Neben seiner Musik-Laufbahn engagierte er sich in den Buerger-Bewegungen des Landes und er ist Gruender der "New Power Party", welche laut Umfragen zur dritt- staerksten Kraft in Taiwan aufgestiegen ist. Bisher wurde Taiwan von zwei Gross-Parteien dominiert. Der Partei von Freddy Lim geht es ebenfalls darum, die so-genannte "Sonnen-Blumen-Rebellion" (Sunflower Student Movement) der Schueler und Studenten vom Fruehling 2014 in die Politik zu retten. Es besteht andernfalls die Gefahr, "dass all diese Kraft sonst verloescht", sagt Freddy Lim. Die Jugend von Taiwan, welche gesellschaftlich erwacht ist, versucht ihren Aufbruch jetzt erstmals in politische Macht umzuwandeln. Das Symbol dieser neuen Bewegung ist Freddy Lim und seine "New Power Party". Taiwans Jugend sah sich als Verlierer bei der Annaehrung an China; der Gewinn dieser Politik ging aus Sicht der Jugend nur in die "Taschen des Establishment". Die Band von Freddy Lim ist jetzt 20 Jahre alt und seine Musik-Texte waren immer auch eine gesellschaftliche Botschaft. Freddy Lim war einige Jahre Vorsitzender von "Amnesty International" in Taiwan und er organisierte Konzerte fuer ein "freies Tibet". Er ist ist der Meinung, Taiwan sei keinesfalls ein Teil von China und sollte ein "normaler Staat" sein duerfen.
