Es gibt woechentliche Mitarbeiter-Treffen bei Facebook und Google informiert die Angestellten regelmaessig ueber Entwicklungen auf dem Kanal "Google Plus". Facebook beschaeftigt jedoch trotzdem ein so-genanntes "Rat-Catching-Team"; interne Ermittler, welche teilweise frueher fuer das FBI, die CIA und militaerische Nachrichten-Dienste gearbeitet hatten. Google versucht, sich die Treue der Mitarbeiter mit Vorzugsaktien zu sichern. Genuegt dies nicht, hoert die bekannte Detektei "Pinkerton" Mitarbeiter ab; dies besonders zum Aufspueren von Insiderhandel und Diebstahl von geistigem Eigentum. Mit ihrer Kontrollsucht bedrohen die US- Technologie-Firmen moegliche "Whistleblower", welche Missstaende oder illegale Praktiken offenlegen. In den USA werden jedoch "Whistleblower" auch belohnt wie in keinem anderen Land. Der UBS-Bank "Whistleblower" Bradley Birkenfeld bekam ueber 100 Mio. US-Dollar fuer seine Dienste bezueglich das Aufdecken eines Steuerbetrugs. Im Silicon Valley "fuehrt die sehr breite Definition der vertraulichen Informationen dazu, dass Mitarbeiter nicht mehr wagen, sich zu aeussern", sagte Anwalt Chris Baker. "Whistleblower" haben es schwer; Ellen Pao machte eine Kultur der Frauen-Diskriminierung in einem fuehrenden Venture-Capital Unternehmen oeffentlich. Sie wurde dann gedemuetigt und entlassen. Bei "Uber" brauchte es viel, bis Susan Fowler, das frauen-feindliche Klima oeffentlich machten konnte.
